Behavioral Health Integration

Behavioral Health Integration

Integrating primary care with behavioral and mental healthcare has been shown to improve patient outcomes. The CDC recognizes that primary care, mental health and behavioral healthcare are intertwined, and Medicare offers separate payments to physicians and non-physician practitioners for Behavioral Health Integration (BHI) services.

BHI services provide payment for the care management services provided to patients with mental, behavioral health, or psychiatric conditions.

Our Difference

Our programs accomplish what Medicare has designed BHI programs to do – bridge the gap between primary care and behavioral health. Patients will navigate through one of our proprietary behavioral health modules utilizing validated rating scales, designed by a leading behavioral health practitioner.

Behavioral health coaches are enabled to work with patients on Personal Activation Techniques and provide enhanced care support through our telephonic and digital applications.

Navigating through our specially designed BHI program, patients will explore areas of behavioral health issues such as: recognizing triggers and opportunities, identifying social support systems, exploring resource opportunities, and personal goal setting.

Patients participating in our BHI program will benefit from continuous relationships with our health coaches and care team, care planning individualized to meet the patient’s own goals and interests in relation to their specific health problem, and facilitation and coordination with their primary care provider.

Medicare Billable Codes

Medicare billable codes for BHI include:

  • 99484: At least 20 minutes of care management services for behavioral health conditions, per calendar month
  • G0511: For Rural Health Clinics or Federally Qualified Health Centers (RHC or FQHC) only, 20 minutes or more of general care management provided by clinical staff. G0511 incorporates multiple codes to keep costs down, covering Behavioral Health Integration and many more services
